Does anybody know if the M924/926 are available as excess property to other agencies? I was thinking that they would be well suited to various tasks with our fire dept. With downsizing I would think they might be available or are they like the hummer in that the govt. has to wait until the contract expires before releasing them. Speaking of surplus-did anyone see the latest Reader's Digest? They have an article that maintains that not enough surplus is being destroyed. They say that "highly classified" electronics material and dangerous weapons are being sold by DRMO due to improper demil classifications. Does this mean we are going to see even more destruction of potentially useable electronics in the future? I was remembering the comments recently made here about the rampant destruction of things like 104's. What a waste! Thanks to Dennis and all for their info. Ken Sakamoto --------- End forwarded message ---------- I'm not familiar with the M924/926's, but the 6x6's can be had in great abundanse, very cheap. Theres an auction I'm going to tomorrow, got lots of them, many flavors, they say many of them never used. Also some M37's,M38,38A1,M715, just lotsa good stuff. I'll probably be shy on funds, but I'm gonna try anyway. Mark G. sent me a copy of the artical you mension. I thought it best not to read it. Figured it would just agravate my already questionable mental state. Though I got all the good radio stuff, there was vintage aircraft instrumentation laying all over the place. Things like gages, meters, selsyns, all kindsa weird stuff. I was tempted to take it all too but the poor 34 year old Dodge was already grossly overloaded & me 265 miles from home. It was agreed with the owner that this stuff should go to some group involve in the restoration of old war birds. So if this fits your bill, I highly recommend you contact him, or forward this to those parties in need. Beleive me the price will wright! Interested persons should contact Mike Veldman at vmike@master.ceat.okstate.edu Good luck, Dennis *********************************************************** The group paint purchase project has slowed. The original government contractor(LHB) that I had intended to make the purchase from no long maintains any inventory. The only sales they now make are contract over runs, & at this time there is none avail. Also EPA BS has quadrupled prices. Fear not, I've found a surplas paint supplier that sells the stuff dirt cheap. Could be that we can get the needed paint for as little as $1.50 a can including postage. I've gotten a list of available colors, but I'm waiting for him to get back in town so that we can discuss the proper color/shades needed. As you should know, there is CURRENTLY over 20 differant shades of OD. I hope to know more by next Monday.
