Judging by how the ground looked we thought pigs were acting as Nature's Rototiller and wanted to see if this was the case. A Trail Camera (Wiki) turned out to be the path to an answer.
Some time ago I looked into a house mounted camera aimed at the back yard, but that did not work out because the back of the house faces South, so the camera was pointing into the Sun.
This time the camera is pointed roughly West and the solar panel is facing sort of South. Since the camera is away from the house a rechargeable battery and solar panel allows for remote operation without a connection to AC mains. The combined Blue Tooth and Wi-Fi data access allows operation from inside the house (in rooms on the South side). It turns out that I can connect from the North side of the house if I can see the kitchen window on the South wall.
GardePro web pages
Got the GardePro Trail Camera Model E6P.
Note the GardePro web pages are full of typos about which features go with with which model.
The camera box is marked E6P but my unit includes the Li rechargeable battery and a slot for an SD card.

E6P - The features are correctly mentioned unlike the GardePro web pages.
DC Power: The included, easily replaced, Li battery is rated for 8 Ah and looks like it would last a very long time until needing to be recharged. But by adding the SP300 Solar Panel I expect to get continious service.
Recording: A full size SD card is required but not supplied. I ended up getting five each SanDisk 32GB, 100MB/sec HCI, speed class (10). I will rotate these as they fill up. Less than $40 for 5 SD cards. Getting 5 SD cards with 512GB capacity would cost more than twice the cost of the camera.
Connectivity: The camera connects first using BlueTooth then using Wi-Fi. The max distance between the camera and cell phone is 15m (45 feet). This works for me since the camera is about that distance from my house, so only in rooms adjacent to the camera. The camera does NOT connect to the house Wi-Fi, only to your smart phone. I have installed the GardePro app on an iPad and it too will connect to the camera after clicking on a "join" window during the connect process. When I'm finished using the app I close the link so that my phones Wi-Fi connection returns to the house Wi-Fi.
GardePro also makes cameras that support LTE 4G (Wiki) cell connectivity. These allow interfacing to the camera via your cell phone from anywhere, but require a monthly cell phone fee to GardePro for the SIM card in those cameras that support it. Unfortunatly I have no cell signal at my house so these are not a viable option.
