MILITARY COLLECTOR GROUP POST, JAN.31/98 INDEX: GROUP WANT's & TRADE's; HE NEEDS A LAUNCHER; WHATSIT; BG-128B ? CONNECTORS SOURCE; RALPH NEEDS OLD FM BOOK; BATTERIES UPDATE; HUMOR SUPPLANTED; *********************************** GROUP WANT's & TRADE's; The Group Want's & Trade's did not go out last weekend because I was called out of town. It should go out this Sunday on schedule. If you have any additions, or modifications, please have them in buy tonight. Thanks, Dennis *********************************** HE NEEDS A LAUNCHER; I saw some military collapsible towers once that you could load up on a small trailer. They were green camo colored ( not imprtant) and more like push up pole than an actual tower. They had fold down tripod type legs on the bottom. Would you know how to get these? Thanks, Mike McCauley KB9GNU mike@kconline.com ---------------------------------------------------- These things are acualy called "Launchers". Sorry don't know where one can currently be forund, but they do show up with some regularity. Dennis ----------------------------------------------------- GREAT... if you ever find one let me know, I will pay a "finders fee" for your trouble. I need 2 of em. I saw 3 of them once in Indianapolis at a hamfest about 3 years ago, and passed on them. Thanks, Mike McCauley *********************************** WHATSIT; BG-128B ? Traded for a couple realy nice canvas bags the other day, was most delighted to find them as they should have been the carry bag for a BC-474. But when they got here they weren't? In fact their not even bags, rather are a cover for some peice of equipment about the size of a BC-348. They have a zippered flap on one side, and a bunch of wholes(eight) on the other either for the operation of controls through or to allow cable connections. Any ideas? Dennis *********************************** RALPH NEEDS OLD FM BOOK; Dennis, I'm looking for an old TAB book This ones "The Practical handbook of amateur radio fm and repeaters" an 1980ish Book. ISBN # 0830612122 or 0830699597 by Bill Pasternak. Thought you might have one or maybe someone in our group.... thanks, Ralph ralph.hogan@vmic.com *********************************** CONNECTORS SOURCE; A new source for oddball military connectors has come to light. This from Jack Johnson in Frederickburg TX.(Someday he'll get some email capabilities and be a worthy addition to our group). The William Perry Company deals exclusively with military connectors both new & used. Their prices have been reported as quite reasonable. Phone 502-893-8724(it would be nice to have a FAX number, & email address) We need a good source for crystals used in later model equipment (50-60's). Non FT series, like HC-6, 16, 18, 24 etc. Jan & Crystec are overpriced junk! International Crystal's are good but too expensive. Boman's are excellent but they will only make them for landmobile equipment. Any ideas? Dennis *********************************** BATTERIES UPDATE; Nicads, More on the nicad batteries I reported on in the last Group Post. These battery packs are arranged side by side five cells to a pack. Included in each pack is a klixon device, this is an ultra small heat sensitive device that disconnects the battery in the event it overheats. Thus protecting it from overcharging, and excessive loads. They should be well suited to rapid charging, though I am not a proponent of this method. Priority Mail postage for four (possibly more) packs to anyplace in the US would be $3.00 on a pre-paid order. The amp hour rating of the cells is highly suspected to be at least 1 or 1.2amphr. PRC-25/77, There is sufficient interest to go ahead with these. I've yet to get the supplier to respond, but have been advised that a price of $8-$10.00 would be reasonable. This is ruffly twice that of going price for alkaline, & mercury types, but of course, cheeper is always better when possible. You all agree? BC-611, So far, the response has indicated we would fall way short of the 50 battery minimum to have these made. I must know if your interested in these things before I investigate further. Dennis *********************************** HUMOR SUPLANTED; Dennis I have taken part in this group because of an interest in military radios. I have no interest in your political views, nor do I think they have anything to do with military radios. Your use of this group as an audience for your anti-Clinton, anti-government opinions has gotten tiring. Please delete me from your group. Roger Leone k6xq@juno.com ------------------------------------------------------- I have taken part in this group because of an interest in military radios. ------------------------------------------------------ What part have you taken in this group? None that I know of, except to use it as a medium to market your goods. Other than your request to join, and several of your catalog updates, this is the only message to have ever been received from you. Even when there was subject material that I know you could have "taken part" in, nothing. I have no interest in your political views, nor do I think >they have anything to do with military radios. ------------------------------------------------------- The Humor presented on Clinton are not necessarily my political views. They, as are all those items included in the HUMOR section were sent me by members of this group. True, they don't have anything to do with military radios, but neither has anything else ever included in the HUMOR section. Your use of this group >as an audience for your anti-Clinton, anti-government opinions has >gotten tiring. ------------------------------------------------------- Bull shit! "Tiring"? Possibly! But only because the material sent in is getting old, and redundant. I also fail to see how ONE posting of a group of jokes could become "tiring". Please delete me from your group. ----------------------------------------------- Done. Had the group post indeed been used for anti-Clinton, anti-government opinion, the below would also have been included, instead of just simple HUMOR which is found in every magazine, news paper, TV or Radio talk show, which is indeed where most of the Clinton Humor originated from. Have you also canceled all your subscriptions, & gotten rid of your TV's & Radio's? Are all these mediums also just vehicles for anti-Clinton, anti-government propaganda? > CLINTON'S DEAD BODIES (DELETED) ---------------------------------------------------- Dennis Your reply only cofirms my decision to drop out. By the way, I have had dealings with a number of members of the group. I have sold and shipped several items with no complaints from those involved. Your ignorance of what is going on is only equaled by your arrogance. It is your group and you are running it the way you want. You don't need me. Roger ---------------------------------------------------- >By the way, I have had dealings with a number of members of the >group. I have sold and shipped several items with no complaints from >those involved. -------------------------------------------------- Exactly! As I said, "except to use it as a medium to market your goods." That does not constitute "participation". Your ignorance of what is going on is only equaled by >your arrogance. ------------------------------------------------ My ignorance of the behind the seens workings of this group is not a failing. Unless somebody gets screwed, it's none of my business. Yet still I know well what you've sold & to whom. Arrogance? I can think of much worse to be guilty of. Political satire is one of our nations most cherished freedoms, even among free nations, ours is of the few that allowed practice it. It dates back to newspapers in the time of Washington himself. In fact, I'd venture to say that no Public official in history has ever been immune from it. When we are no longer permitted this freedom, it will be time for the intiar world to worry. This will conclude any further correspondence.
