The military has standardized on the BA-5588A for a primary battery and the BB-388 for a rechargable battery.

The testing method is determined by the battery chemistry. If you're using my battery adapter with common Alkaline "AA" cells then you can test them using a simple flashlight battery tester, some AA cells have a tester built right into each battery.
But if you're using a LiSO2 chemistry battery like the BA-5588/U then the ONLY battery tester that will work is the Chemtronics LS 91 or LS 94.
