KY-99 Advanced Narrowband Digital Voice Terminal (ANDVT)

It replaces the KY-65 for HF radio applications (2.4 k bits/sec).  It also replaces the KY-57 in most VHF and UHF applications (12 or 16 k bits/sec). 
Note the "Narrowband" in ANDVT means that this unit is not optimum for VHF and UHF radios where the bandwidth is much wider than for HF radios.  So it does not support the higher data rates that other devices can support.

The box and rear panel is the same as the KY-99 so the same battery box or vehicle mount will work.

The front panel differs from the KY-57 in that the RADIO connector is now 13 pins unlike the KY-57 RADIO connector so the KY-99 can not just be substituted for the KY-57.  Since the KY-99 replaces at least two very different voice encryption boxes (KY-57 & KY-65) it makes sense to use a new connector that's not common to either of the older units.

The RT-1209 is the tranceiver that's the heart of the PRC-104, GRC-193, GRC-213, URC-113 (used in the GRC-206).  The cable is constructed using the conduit method that's good when EMP specs are involved.
